The research was developed through a robust analysis of the city’s prior environmental planning initiatives, paired with interviews from local stakeholders and climate experts. The assessment of progress primarily asks: How well is Boston—as a civic community—driving forward system transformations to meet climate, resilience, and equity goals? Through this project, Isidor Studio worked alongside the report’s researchers and editors to develop the report’s overall graphic language and a series of infographics to demonstrate the four “big lifts” Boston must undertake to achieve its climate goals. In particular, the infographics demonstrate upgrades to Boston’s vernacular across scales—from building retrofits, to streetscape improvements, to neighborhood infrastructural upgrades. The overall design draws inspiration from regional topography reinforced by an earth-toned palette.
