Isidor Studio collaborated on a team with project lead Goode Landscape Studio and A TON studio to develop a future vision for one of Providence's most iconic landscapes. Our proposed design revives the site as a functional bridge to serve as a pedestrian and bike greenway that connects the cultural and environmental hubs of the East Bay Bike Path, Gano Park, India Point Park, East Providence, Downtown Providence, and Fox Point.
Our vision characterized the corridor into five zones of activity, each appealing to a diverse range of interests and accessibility—(1) The Tunnel, (2) The Junction, (3) The Meet (4) The Switch, and (5) the Branchline Cove. The proposed design retains the popular and defining characteristic of the original Crook Point Bridge, Bascule, and rail with its historic relics and iconic gritty material quality that has accumulated since its closure. This is Bridge’s identity. Overall, our vision prosed to amplify and intensify this history and renew a sense of place by combining these relics with a flexible contemporary design.
