The Boston Design Vision is a project led by the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) that seeks to understand how buildings and outdoor spaces can better support Bostonians’ sense of belonging and identity citywide.

Isidor Studio is serving as a research and design consultant on the project, led by Agency Landscape and Planning as the prime consultant. Running through 2024, this innovative project seeks to ensure that Boston’s design reflects the diverse individuals that comprise the City and its communities.

This work includes research, observation, and engagement with the Boston community to evaluate how the city looks, feels, supports movement, and how it builds community. It also includes interviews with public sector design leaders and industry experts as well as benchmarking research from peer communities. Supported by community-specific design typologies and an implementation roadmap, this work will inform how future spaces are designed, communicate what is important for communities to thrive, and promote equitable growth and development.

Agency is leading planning, design, and landscape architecture, working closely with Isidor Studio for urban research and graphic design, DREAM Collaborative for urban design and architecture, Consult LeLa for local outreach and communication,  and photographer OJ Slaughter for photography and engagement support.
